Big ? #3 Three things I would change about schools

I would like to change the delivery method used by many of the teachers in the schools today to include a well-rounded use of all students multiple intelligences. I feel as though I was left out of many of my classes as a high school student because I had a hard time reading as fast as others in class and most of the teachers did not use multiple teaching methods.

The second thing I would change is the amount of homework assigned and what type of homework that would be assigned. We have been taught that less than 10% of information that is taken home in homework is actually retained by the students. I feel that if homework is assigned it needs to be done using fun projects. By involving the family I feel students will retain more.

The third thing I would change would be the language that students are allowed to use without any repercussions. Students need to learn not just about a subject but also about life. Recently when walking in the halls of a school I noticed teachers just listening to students swear in the halls without saying a word to the students. We need to teach the students how to act and speak in front of future employers and co-workers as well as letting them just be kids. I know that as a restaurant general manager I fired people for dropping the “F” bomb. The rules are in place in almost all schools already, we just need to follow them.
